Queenscliff summer swim combines fun with fundraising
Be part of this ocean swim and raise funds for Parkinson’s research
The Queenscliff 180 Family Swim – formerly the Queenscliff Blue Water Challenge, takes place on Saturday January 27 at the historic Bellarine resort town with proceeds being divided between Parkinson’s Victoria, Parkinson’s disease research and Barwon Child, Youth & Family.
The event offers a number of age and distance levels to attract the biggest possible number of participants, ensuring the whole family can take part.
What a great way to create some family, community and competitive spirit!
“A family member works in the field of Parkinson’s research, so it’s given me some insights into both the condition and the need for funding its research”, co-organiser Liam Petrie-Allbut said.
“So it was one of the first community causes I thought of when in the event’s planning phase”.
“We are hoping we can hand over a sizable cheque to the beneficiaries after the event!”
Parkinson’s Victoria CEO Emma Collin was delighted to hear of the donation to Parkinson’s Victoria and Parkinson’s research.
“The Queenscliff180 Family Swim is a wonderful initiative that is as worthy as it is imaginative”, she said.
“These summer events are a brilliant way to energise local communities in a way that embraces the summer and holiday spirit in a beautiful setting”.
“We couldn’t be happier that the organisers have chosen Parkinson’s Victoria and Parkinson’s research as beneficiaries. We certainly encourage our community to get behind it any way they can”.
