Employed or Self-Funded Retirees
What
help is available to people who are employed, self-funded retirees
or partially self-funded retirees?
In Victoria, there are a number of community-based services that aim to support people who have a chronic illness and/or other disability. Many of these services are means tested and heavily subsidised for those receiving government pensions. Some of these services are exclusively available to concession cardholders.
Being employed or self-funded does not necessarily exclude you from various community services. However, there may be an additional cost if you want to access these support options.
Find key services and supports that you may be eligible for in the index below.
If you have a Medicare
card you are eligible for rebates and healthcare programs. The links
below will take you to more information in the treatment costs section
of this Help Finder.
If you don’t have a concession
card, you are still eligible for community care programs. However,
because these programs are means tested, the rate of your co-contribution
is determined according to your income and assets.
Generally:
Allowances & Concessions
You may still be eligible for a range
of entitlements including:
- Family-related payments
- Commonwealth Seniors Allowance & Health Card
- Pension Loans Scheme
- Carer Allowance
- Mobility Allowance
