Sinemet shortage continues
Dec. 11, 2018
The latest news from MSD, the suppliers of Sinemet, is that the shortage of all forms of Sinemet is likely to continue throughout 2019.
UPDATED FEBRUARY 2019
You should speak to your treating doctor in regard to switching to other brands or treatments.
To help the situation, the Therapeutic Goods Administration has granted permission for generic brands of Levodopa/Carbidopa, to be made available where the MDS brands are in short supply.
The generic strengths that will be available are:
Levodopa/carbidopa Controlled Release 200/50mg (Sinemet CR)
Levodopa/carbidopa Immediate Release 250/25mg (Sinemet 250)
For people unable to take a generic preparation there is a very small emergency supply of Sinemet available. If this is the case, your pharmacist should contact MYLAN Customer Services on 1800 028 365.
For people taking Sinemet 100/25mg, the generic alternative Kinson continues to be available.
