The Black Tulip Magnolia

May. 30, 2016

Parkinson’s Victoria has partnered with Practical Horticulture to offer the exquisite Black Tulip Magnolia and at the same time support Parkinson’s research.

Says Euan Laird, owner of Practical Horticulture, “I was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s about four years ago.  I decided to follow my passion and start my own business two years later to assist others achieve their garden aspirations.  The Black Tulip Magnolia is a magnificent specimen which will provide inspiration and a feature in anyone’s garden each spring.”

The Black Tulip Magnolia is part of the Jury range of Magnolias and produces exquisite tulip like flowers in spring after about 3-4 years of growth.  The magnolia plants (0.5-0.8m tall) are small and will take a further year of growth to flower for the first time - but the wait is worth it!

The Black Tulip Magnolia flower is not black but rather a magnificent rich purple and beautifully matches the purple of our new Parkinson’s Victoria brand logo.  The plants are now potted (rather than bare rooted).

Each Black Tulip Magnolia is $65 including delivery.  Practical Horticulture will deliver or courier plants within 100km of Melbourne.

$10 from every sale of the bare rooted plants offered by Practical Horticulture will be donated to Parkinson’s Victoria to further their research programs.

Why not meet Euan to talk magnolias (and your gardening aspirations)? He will be at the St Kilda Primary Farmers Market and Booroondara Farmers Market each month.  Potted stock will also be available at A Walk in the Park in August.

Orders can be placed at or by contacting Practical Horticulture on 0476 262 133.
