Two leading Australian researchers will provide invaluable insights into current studies and the latest findings from Parkinson's research, including telehealth as a mode of service delivery, transformative clinical trials, and genomics to help treat and cure Parkinson’s.

Emeritus Prof Deborah Theodoros
The University of Queensland
 
Prof. Theodoros is an academic speech pathologist with extensive research experience in the development and delivery of allied health services via telehealth.

She will provide her insights into telehealth as a mode of service delivery for people living with Parkinson’s, its application, and the evidence supporting its use.

 

Professor Simon Lewis
Cognitive Neuroscience, The University of Sydney

Prof. Lewis is Director of the Parkinson's Disease Research Clinic at the Brain and Mind Centre and heads the NSW Movement Disorders Brain Donor program.

He has published more than 200 peer review papers, two books and seven book chapters and attracted more than $5 Million in funding to support research targeting quality of life in neurodegenerative diseases.

He will update you on the Australian Parkinson’s Mission plans for the $30 million in funding received from the Federal Government’s Medical Research Future Fund. This investment is assigned to address areas of unmet need in Parkinson’s, including genomics and developing new treatments from drug repurposing.
